<p>The telescope has an illuminator (10) with a photosensor (9) to detect luminance of a targeted object e.g. tree within an area of intermediate image planes. A controller controls the luminance of a foreseen lighting such as target mark lighting based on the luminance detected by the sensor. The controller evaluates a value determined by the sensor and increases or decreases the luminance of the foreseen lighting based on the value.</p>
