The head has a guiding unit for a handrail (4), which is enclosed by a modularly designed encasement (5). The encasement includes sidewalls and a front unit with a removable panel . The front unit contains storey and advertising information, e.g. in the form of still or moving images from a TV display. The front unit, side walls and the panel are connected by snap connections. The handrail is insertable in an upper free end region of the encasement in the protected form.
