The elastomer connector has an insulating base plate (21) and a group of electrically conductive springs (30) fastened to the plate. The base plate has a plurality of insertion openings arranged in a matrix of rows and columns and each having a conductive spring (30) fastened therein. The openings (22) are formed of two truncated cone openings with the narrow ends connected together to form a narrow neck portion to grip the corresponding spring in the middle. The two ends of the springs are left freely moveable. Independent claims also cover and arrangement in which the middle of the springs are gripped by projections.
