An update method for firmware in an optical storage device. Detection programs are sent to the optical storage device to acquire storage related information thereof. Update programs corresponding to the firmware are sent to the optical storage device according to the storage related information. Original firmware programs are sent to the optical storage device and updated by the update programs.
