Honeycomb body (1) comprises a casing tube (3) having partial regions (9, 10, 11) each with an inner diameter (12, 13, 14) in the longitudinal direction. The second partial region (10) lies with a second inner diameter (13) in the longitudinal direction between the first partial region (9) and the third partial region (11). The first and third inner diameters are smaller than the second inner diameter. An independent claim is also included for a process for the production of a honeycomb body.
