A Pre-Stressed Fabric Fastener System comprising an interlocking pair of substantially Velcro-type fabric fastener materials wherein at least one of the fabric materials includes longitudinal members having predetermined elastic stress-derived from attached elastic members, integral elastic members, an elastic film, or the likes. Variations of the system provide for easier fastening, more secure interlocking, and/or easier disengagement opening of interlocked materials. Application for the instant system include most existing Velcro-type fastener applications; and new application where snaps, buttons, zippers and the likes are currently preferred because of robustness fastening failures for the ordinary non-elastic Velcro-type fastener systems.
