<p>Tracer is of the type with cells fixed to the base of the engine and which burn without emitting smoke; the tracer does not emit undesirable projections of incandescent material and does not modify the wt. of the engine. The tracer is in the form of a circular ring with a thickness of 15 mm. It consists of two sections, each divided into three cells. The cells form boxes which are made from a light non-metallic material which is non-combustible and non-conducting. The tracer is arranged around the tuyere on the rear surface of the missile; its emissive surface has an area of about 100 cm2. The tracing compsns. contain reducing agents, such as Zr, B and Al, oxidising elements, such as barium chromate, and refractory fillers, such as zirconium dioxide, silicon carbide and zirconium boride. The materials in powder form are intimately agglomerated by means of an aq. soln. of sodium silicate and dried in an oven after being loaded into the cells.</p> |
