IONIC ACTIVITY MONITORING DEVICE

An ionic activity monitoring device comprises a housing, the housing containing a sensor for sensing ionic activity and for producing an electrical signal indicative thereof, a transmitter for transmitting data indicative of the ionic activity signal, a microprocessor for controlling the sensor and the transmitter; and a power supply for powering the transmitter and microprocessor. The sensor further comprises an outer surface exposed to a substance whose ionic activity is being sensed, the outer surface being permeable by either positively or negatively charged ions, a solution contained within the outer surface such that ions permeating the outer surface act to change the ionic activity of the solution, and means for determining the degree of change in the ionic activity of the solution.
