The invention relates to a photovoltaic cell comprising a photovoltaically active semiconductor material. Said photovoltaically active semiconductor material is a p- or n-doped semiconductor material with mixed compounds of formula (I): (Zn<SUB>1-x</SUB>Mn<SUB>x</SUB>Te)<SUB>1-y</SUB>(Si<SUB>a</SUB>Te<SUB>b</SUB>)<SUB>y</SUB>, in which x = a number from 0.01 to 0.99, y = a number from 0.01 to 0.2, a = a number from 1 to 2 and b = a number from 1 to 3. |
