The device has a sensor unit detecting a parameter of a moving target object. An input unit has an operating component (10) and a control unit for adjusting speed of a vehicle based on sensor and actuating signals. The control unit is switched from one mode to another mode by a driver over operation of the component and is switched from the latter mode to the former mode by the driver when failure of the operation of the component. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating speed of a vehicle. |
