1,154,958. Valves. CAMERON IRON WORKS Inc. 4 Sept., 1967 [9 June, 1967], No. 40369/67. Heading F2V. A lubricated valve has a seat 25 engaged by a valve member 13, and lubricant is supplied through the seat via a passage 31a and groove 30. The seat is sealed to the valve body by a seal ring 36 and is backed by a spring washer 38. Passage 31 opens from a lubricant chamber formed conjointly by the seat, the valve body, the washer 38 and the seal ring 36, the lubricant being supplied externally through a check valve 33. The washer 38 functions as a relief valve to relieve overpressure in the chamber. As shown, the device is applied to a rotatable ball plug valve which includes a three-part body welded at 22. An additional spring washer 43 protects the seal. To even wear, the seat is rotated each time the valve is opened and closed, by a dog (27) on the valve member engaging teeth 28 on the seat.
|
