The loading method comprises the following steps: (A) transferring the container from a height adjustable first arm arrangement (3) to a second arm arrangement (4) which is connected to the cart frame (6) outside a guide track for the first arm arrangement and which can adopt a position in which they are located outside a projected vertical path for a container held by the first arm arrangement; (B) moving the second arms towards each other into the path of the container after the first arm arrangement has been moved past the second arm arrangement towards a higher position; and (C) moving the first arm arrangement in a downward direction to transfer the container to the second arm arrangement. An independent claim is also included for an automatic plant container transport cart (1) used to carry out this loading method, which includes actuators (7) for moving the arms in the second arrangement.
