<p>A method for starting an engine of a vehicle ensures that a stationary vehicle cannot unintentionally begin to move during the starting operation. In the event of a starting command, a check is made as to whether the vehicle is stationary. If the vehicle is stationary, at least one vehicle brake is activated.
