An optical pickup lens device comprises a collimate means held for movement along the direction of the optical axis of optical flux emitted from a light source and adapted to convert the optical flux into parallel rays or predetermined converging or diverging light, an aberration control element permeable by optical flux emitted from the collimate means, and an objective lens having a numerical aperture of 0.8 or more and adapted to cause optical flux emerging from the aberration control element to focus on the information recording medium to form a spot, these components being arranged in the order mentioned as seen from the light source. For the purpose of tracking the information recording medium, the aberration control element and objective lens are integrally held in a direction orthogonal to the optical axis, satisfying predetermined conditions.
