A memory tag 30 and a memory tag reader 31 both contain resonant circuit parts 32, 42 to allow transfer of information between the two devices. In practice, de-tuning of the resonant circuits (due to age or component tolerances) is common, resulting in an inefficient transfer of information. To overcome this, the resonant tag is made with several capacitors 38a, 38b, 38c which can be switched in/out 39a, 39b, 39c. Therefore, the resonant frequency of the tag can be altered by increasing or decreasing the capacitance. The tag reader can also adjust its resonant frequency dependent on the resonant frequency of the tag it is communicating with. |
