A steering actuator (2) provides a steering force to a steering mechanism for steering a steerable tired-wheel. Stress sensors (SL,SR) and an air pressure sensor (SP) are provided within the tire to detect the load applied to the tire. A steering control unit (14) controls the steering actuator according to the tire load detected by the load detecting unit.
