Roofing rivet positioning device

A roof rivet positioning device allows accurate positioning of a roofing rivet so as to meet with an aperture on a leading edge of a roofing tile to be fixed on a roof structure. The device comprises a first element 1 having a guide means 6 arranged to abut with a fixed roof structure and permitting sliding movement of the device in a plane parallel to the fixed roof structure. A second element 2 is slidably engaged with the first element 1 for movement perpendicular to that of the first element 1. The second element 2 has rivet retaining means 3 for releasably retaining a roofing rivet. The first 1 and second 2 elements may each comprise substantially rectangular plates having a long axis and a short axis. The long axes of the first and second elements may be aligned. The guide means 6 may be an angle bar having an elongate axis perpendicular to that of the first element 1. The first element 1 may have at least one slotted aperture 7 which is engaged by a threaded insert on the second element, a fastening device 4 may engage the threaded insert to releasably fix the first 1 and second 2 elements relative to each other. The rivet retaining means may comprise a notch 3 on each long side of the second element 2 corresponding to a recess 5 on each long side of the first element 1.
