A trash rack arrangement (200) is provided for blocking debris from entering a suppression pool (140) of a nuclear reactor. The trash rack arrangement includes a cage (220) operatively attached to a shield wall (205) of the nuclear reactor, the cage embodied by a metal grid structure with gaps for permitting passage of debris at a given size, wherein the cage extends continuously around a periphery of the shield wall of the nuclear reactor. The cage may block the debris of the given size from clogging the drywell connection vents (DCVs). Thus, the fluid flow from the suppression pool and through the DCVs may be increased. |
