1362858 Polyglycidyl compounds CIBAGEIGY AG 25 Oct 1971 [2 Nov 1970] 49486/71 Heading C2C [Also in Division C3] Novel binuclear N-heterocyclic polyglycidyl compounds of general formula wherein A denotes a divalent aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, cycloaliphatic-aliphatic, araliphatic, aromatic or heterocyclic-aliphatic radical, Z 1 and Z 2 each denote a divalent radical of formula wherein R 1 and R 2 each denote a hydrogen atom or an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, araliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon radical or together form a divalent aliphatic or cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon radical, R 3 and R 5 each denote H or an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, araliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon radical and R 4 and R 6 each denote H or an alkyl radical, X 1 and X 2 each denote H or methyl, and B 1 and B 2 each denote H, a glycidyl group or a #-methylglycidyl group, may be prepared by (i) converting by known methods a suitable starting material into a 1,2-epoxyethyl or 1-methyl-1,2-epoxyethyl compound, e.g. converting hydroxyhalogeno ethyl radicals in the presence of strong alkali, or converting ethenyl radicals by reaction with a per-acid or H 2 O 2 ; the starting material of Formula IIa or IIb may be made by reaction of an epihalogenohydrin or #-methylepihalogenohydrin in the presence of an appropriate catalyst, with a com pound of Formula III or (ii) by reacting at an elevated temperature, one molecular proportion of a diisocyanate of formula O=C=N-A-N=C=O with 2 molecular proportions of a compound of Formula VIIIa or VIIIb. |
