1,234,688. Disperse dyestuffs. SUMITOMO CHEMICAL CO. Ltd. 1 April, 1969 [6 April, 1968; 3 Sept., 1968; 4 Sept., 1968; 14 Sept., 1968], No.17005/69. Heading C4P. The invention comprises dyestuffs of the general formula wherein W is H, C 1 -C 6 alkyl, aralkyl or phenyl, Y is H, halogen, NO 2 , C 1 -C 6 alkyl, C 1 -C 6 , alkoxy, C 1 -C 6 alkylmercapto or dialkylamino-, n is 1 to 4, and A is or wherein X is H, NO 2 , CN, halogen, CF 3 , -SO 2 R, - COOR, R, OR, -SR, -CO-N(R)-CO-, (R is C 1 -C 6 alkyl), benzthiazolyl, benzimidazolyl, benzoxazolyl, phenoxy, phenyl, anilino, phenylmercapto, or wherein the phenyl groups may be substituted by halogen, nitro, C 1 -C 6 alkyl or alkoxy, Z is H, halogen, NO 2 , C 1 -C 6 , alkyl, C 1 -C 6 , alkoxy, C 1 -C 6 alkylmercapto, C 1 -C 6 dialkylamino or CN, B means a benzene or naphthalene nucleus and I and m are 1 to 4. They are prepared by condensing the corresponding perinaphtholactam and amine compounds in presence of a condensing agent and preferably in presence of an inert organic solvent. The product dyes when unsubstituted at the peri N atom may be subsequently N-alkylated or may be halogenated in the naphthalene ring system. The dyes give yellow and orange shades on polyesters, polyester ethers, polyamides and acetyl cellulose.
