<p>Apparatus for the continuous production of plutonium oxalate (I) comprises a precipitating device with an agitator, which receives the solns. of plutonium nitrate and oxalic acid. A decanter is placed under this and receives the ppt. of (I) which overflows from the precipitating device; a washing column is placed in the lower part of the decanter. The precipitating device comprises several exits for (I) which are at various levels and permits variable ripening times for (I). The wash column has at least two frustums; the washing solns. arrive at the lower parts of these and are removed at the upper part of the decanter. At the base of the column is an outlet sieve comprising a thickener, two vanes and a rubber filter. The washing column etc. are all extended out from each other and (I) circulates through them by gravity.</p> |
