[Also in Division B8] A plastics bottle is closed by pressing flat the filler or discharge neck 3 of the bottle, near the rim, applying a plastics sealing strip by injection moulding in a single or multiple mould to the bottle rim, and applying pressure to the rim and sealing strip while the strip sets, by means of jaws or endless belts or chains (not shown). The injection nozzles 18 may be open nozzles, or shut-off nozzles with needle or mushroom sliding valves. The sealing strip incorporates a tear filament or a tear groove. |
