In a shovelling machine in which a fixed length of a ram for vertically swinging a shovelcarrying boom extends up beyond the pivotal connections of the ram with the boom the pivotal connections of the ram, the boom, the shovel and a second ram for tilting the shovel relative to the boom are so disposed as to ensure of the shovel maintaining a constant relation to the vertical when the boom is swung up. Preferably with the second ram fully retracted the pivotal connections lie at the corners of a parallelogram. |
