Hair care preparations containing one or more amino- or ammonium-modified silicones represented by the general formula (I): wherein R<SUP>1</SUP>'s are each independently methyl, phenyl, or hydroxy; R<SUP>2</SUP>'s are each independently R<SUP>4</SUP>Z; a is an integer of 0 to 3; m and n are each a positive integer with the proviso that the average value of (m + n) is 4000 to 6000 and the average value of n/m is 0.002 to 0.03; R<SUP>4</SUP> is alkylene of 3 to 6 carbon atoms; and Z is (II) AA or (R<SUP>5</SUP>'s are each independently hydrogen or alkyl of 1 to 30 carbon atoms; R<SUP>6</SUP> is alkyl of 1 to 30 carbon atoms; A is chlorine, bromine or iodine; and b is an integer of 2 to 6.)</p>
