<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to easily perform document retrieval in a document management environment where a document name is automatically generated according to a naming rule. <P>SOLUTION: In this document management device for managing a document with a document name following a set naming rule, a document name for a system is generated by changing an original document name applied to a document according to a naming rule, and the generated document name (document name 73) for a system and an original document name (79) are registered so as to be associated with the document (70).
