<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical film having a reflective polarization function, to provide a manufacturing method of the optical film, to provide a flat-plate fluorescent lamp having the optical film and to provide a display device comprising the flat-plate fluorescent lamp. <P>SOLUTION: A plurality of liquid crystal layers are formed in a multi-layer structure on a base, light corresponding to the twist pitch of liquid crystal formed on each of the multi-layer structure among incident light is reflected and the other light is transmitted. Adhesive layers are interposed between a plurality of liquid crystal layers and adhere the liquid crystal layers adjacent to each other. A retardation layer is formed on a liquid crystal layer of the outermost shell among the liquid crystal layers, converts light transmitted through the liquid crystal layer of the outermost shell to linearly polarized component light and emits the converted light. Accordingly, a cholesteric liquid crystal layer of which the twist axis is aligned in one direction so that the light of wavelength corresponding to the twist pitch is strongly reflected on a base film or glass for flat plate fluorescent lamp and light of the other wavelength is transmitted is formed and, thereby, the light can be efficiently controlled, the uniformity of brightness is enhanced and the number of components can be reduced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
