<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing boss for reducing stress concentration by joining a cylinder body to which a bearing is attached on the inner periphery side, to a pipe material which has a different outer shape, via a welded portion in a smooth bead shape. <P>SOLUTION: In the state that the cylinder body 12 abuts on the pipe material 13 having different outer and inner diameter sizes therefrom, an edge portion 12C of the cylinder body having a larger diameter, out of outer periphery side stepped portions 14 produced therebetween, is irradiated with a laser beam 26. In this case, the laser beam melts not only an abutting portion of the cylinder body on the pipe material but also the edge portion of the cylinder body, therefore increasing the volume of a whole molten metal. Thus, between each cylinder portion and the pipe material, a welded portion is formed which has a smooth outer periphery side bead portion with no under-fill and a smooth inner periphery side bead portion with no protrusion.
