PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical deflector which can maintain a highly accurate deflective reflection face to obtain an excellent image, can realize the balance correction of a rotary body with high precision, and is less vibratory and quiet, and to provide an optical scanner and an image forming apparatus using the optical deflector. SOLUTION: The rotary body 3 having a polygon mirror 18 is held on a dynamic pressure bearing. The rotary body 3 is equipped with a sleeve 16 formed with a dynamic pressure bearing surface, a flange 17 fixed to the sleeve 16, the polygon mirror 18 force-fitted/connected to the flange 17, and a permanent magnet 14 for driving. The polygon mirror 18 is formed in a cup shape with the inside hollowed out, wherein the reflection surfaces 18c, 18d formed in the polygon mirror 18 are superimposed in part or all, at the position in the rotary axis direction, on the dynamic pressure bearing surface formed on the sleeve 16.
