PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display that is superior in optical display quality, while solving the problem that light leakage exists during impressing voltage due to alignment disturbance of liquid crystal molecules caused by irregularities in an array substrate. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display comprises the array substrate 1 having a pixel electrode 26, a rapped alignment layer 28, positioned at the uppermost layer and including a plurality of projection parts 4 on the surface, a facing substrate 2 arranged facing by holding a prescribed gap on the array substrate, a liquid crystal layer 3 sandwiched in between the array substrate and the facing substrate and an alignment control means. The pixel electrode 26 includes a first region R1, positioned in the neighborhood of the projection part 4 of the surface of the array substrate 1 and a second region R2, other than the first region.
