PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure a precision in paper feed even close to the rear edge of paper. SOLUTION: According to one embodiment of the present invention, a print control apparatus using a print control method, is equipped at least with a position detection part which detects the position and the travelling direction of paper during its feed, a speed detection part which detects a physical amount corresponding to paper feed speed, a control selecting part and a paper feed controller. The control selecting part determines whether a paper feed motor is controlled so as to perform normal paper feed based on at least either one of information on a printing mode or types of paper. After the rear edge of paper is detected by a paper detection sensor based on at least either one of the output of the position detection part and the speed detection part, within a predetermined region including the location where a variation of force applied to paper is generated due to the rear edge of the paper passing between a paper feed roller and a slave roller, the paper feed controller switches from the normal paper feed control for controlling the paper feed motor to perform normal paper feed to paper feed control so as to suppress or strike out variation of force for securing the precision of the paper feed, and for every print execution timing, the controller stops and maintains paper at each target position.
