Twisting together wet flax rovings

One roving is drawn through a wetting bath and passed through a hollow spindle (on which a supply of a second roving is carried) together with the second roving. The spindle terminates in a flared skirt, and the rovings pass through an annular lateral aperture in the spindle, over the edge of the skirt and through a concentric guide so that as the spindle rotates they are twisted together. A yarn tensioner and stop-motion are provided downstream of the guide. A regular twist is produced.
