PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device which securely converts a sensor output minutely varying over a wide range without increasing the number of bits of A-D conversion. SOLUTION: A semiconductor device comprises an amplification portion, a bias control circuit which generates a bias voltage applied to an input signal to the amplification portion, an A-D conversion circuit for A-D converting the output of the amplifier by the prescribed number of bits and a control circuit which outputs a control signal to the bias control circuit. Then the control circuit outputs the control signal when the output value of the A-D converting circuit reaches a designated value and the bias control circuit varies the value of the bias voltage in response to the control signal.
