<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a functional material by readily, efficiently and orderly introducing a functional low-molecular material to the internal phase of a crystal of a syndiotactic polystyrene-based polymer. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing the functional polymer material comprises mixing the syndiotactic polystyrene-based polymer with a plasticizer selected from an aliphatic ketone, an aliphatic sulfoxide, a benzene derivative, a lower alkane, a halogenated alkyl and supercritical carbon dioxide to introduce the plasticizer into the crystal phase of the polymer, and further mixing a solution obtained by dissolving a functional low-molecular material, e.g. a monocyclic aromatic compound, a polycyclic aromatic compound, an alicyclic hydrocarbon, an aliphatic ketone, an aliphatic sulfoxide, an aliphatic alcohol, an aliphatic ester and a halogenated alkyl in the plasticizer or a plasticizer different from the plasticizer, with the resultant mixture to introduce the functional low-molecular material into the crystal phase of the polymer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
