PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an expander and a Rankine system using this expander, without requiring to connecting a generator of a separate body via a motive power transmission mechanism, by performing operation by only one of two expansion mechanisms without using a bypass circuit. SOLUTION: Since first and second generators 2e are driven by a rotary shaft of the first and second expansion mechanisms 2b and 2c, the operation by only one of the respective expansion mechanisms 2b and 2c can be performed without using the bypass circuit, and the whole system can be miniaturized. The first generator 2d is integrally arranged on one end side of an expander body 2a, and since the second generator 2e is integrally arranged on its other end side, a structure can be simplified and cost can be reduced without requiring to connect the generator of a separate body via the motive power transmission mechanism.
