INDIGO-CONTAINING SOAP AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a soap containing active components extracted from indigo which has been widely utilized from a long time ago as a dye for underwear and is expected to have functions such as antibacterial action and antiinflammatory action as one of soaps containing various ingredients and meeting the recent health boom demanding natural toilet soap. SOLUTION: Precipitated indigo produced by fermenting and eluting indigo leaf is dissolved together with sodium hydroxide into an aqueous solution obtained by extracting water-soluble components of the seed of Japanese indigo plant. Oil-soluble components of indigo leaf are decocted with a vegetable oil such as olive oil and the vegetable oil containing the oil-soluble components of indigo is mixed with the aqueous solution under stirring to saponify the components. The product is put into a mold and solidified by leaving at rest to obtain the soap. A soap having desired composition can be produced by using the extracted component singly or in combination and varying the concentration. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
