PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly obtain a boosting time without being influenced by surge pressure and a time lag of the change to pressure increase. SOLUTION: A measurement point M<SB>s</SB>in the start of boosting is set onto the deceleration wave form Vc of plunger velocity V after the completion (B) of packing molten metal into a die cavity, and further, a measurement point M<SB>E</SB>in the finish of boosting is set to the high pressure side on the boosting wave form Pc of the pressure P in the molten metal. Based on the measurement point M<SB>s</SB>, the point of time T<SB>s</SB>at which boosting is started is measured, based on the measurement point M<SB>E</SB>, the point of time at which boosting is finished is measured, respectively, and the time from the point of time T<SB>s</SB>at which boosting is started till the arrival at the point of time T<SB>E</SB>at which boosting is finished is regarded as a boosting time t. Since the calculation is performed using the point of time T<SB>s</SB>at which boosting is started measured regardless of the pressure P of the molten metal, the obtained value of the boosting time t is made correct.
