<p>Remelting of metals in gas-heated cupola-furnaces is imporved by adding to the charge (in %): ferrosilicon (75-96%) 0.09-0.015, fluorine 0.125-0.15, coke 0.025-1.5, silvery or black graphite 0.075-0.015, chalk or CaO 0.1-0.03, BaCl2 0.025-1.2, and ground blocks of sodium silicate 0.06-0.09, agglomerated with water glass (2-10% by wt.). These additives form a slag having deoxidising properties, and dissolving oxides from the surface of molten metal, thus improving the transfer of heat. The properties of the products are improved, and remelting losses are reduced.</p> |
