CATALYST TEMPERATURE ESTIMATION DEVICE FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst temperature estimation device for an internal combustion engine accurately estimating temperature of a catalyst.

SOLUTION: The catalyst temperature estimation device for the internal combustion engine is provided with an intake air pressure sensor 2 for detecting quantity of air supplied to the engine 1 and a rotation speed sensor 25 and ECU 30. The ECU 30 calculates intake air quantity GA based on a value of intake air pressure PM detected by the intake air pressure sensor 22 and a value of engine speed detected by the rotation speed sensor 25. The ECU 30 detects a gear position which is currently used based on signal from a transmission gear sensor 18. The ECU 30 estimates temperature of the catalyst 17 by referring catalyst temperature estimation map stored in ROM based on intake air quantity and transmission gear (transmission ratio).
