<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing device which makes a seal having variant strength or adhesive strength along with a curved sealing line or the overall length of the seal. <P>SOLUTION: The invention relates to a device in which two sealing jaws are set up movable each other, constructed to hold a material to be sealed between them and at least one of the jaws forms a ceramic component containing at least one electrically insulating ceramic material, the ceramic component contains an electrically conductive ceramic material, which forms one or more continuous strands embedded in the insulating material. The strand is connected with an electric source at or in the vicinity of both its ends. The electrically insulating ceramic material comprises a blend of zirconium dioxide and silicon carbide, with the amount of zirconium dioxide making 10 to 50 volume%.
