PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology of a magnetically susceptible wire adapted to be freed from defectiveness in products caused by a lot error in the base material employed in a production process and a production error caused in a machining process, etc. to produce efficiently and stably the magnetically susceptible wire of a prescribed output characteristic, and also particularly capable of obtaining a stable symmetric output as an output characteristic by means of symmetric magnetization. SOLUTION: The method includes processes of subjecting a wire material as a base material to a plurality of heat treatments in the course of performing a plurality of stages of wire-drawing machining to produce a base wire of a prescribed wire diameter; successively applying left- and right-directional twisting rotations to the base wire to produce a test wire experimentally; confirming the output characteristic of the produced test wire by examination; correcting, according to necessity, the direction of the twisting rotation and number of the twisting rotations, based on the output characteristic of the test wire obtained from the examination result; and successively applying left- and right-directional twisting rotations to the base wire to produce a magnetic susceptible wire having a resulting prescribed output characteristic.
