PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device suitably used for a stationary electronic device such as a personal computer, a notebook computer, and a portable electronic device such as a portable information terminal or a portable video device. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a cover, a tray disposed to be freely inserted into/pulled out from the cover, a spindle motor disposed in the tray to rotate an optical disk, and a carriage for mounting an optical device movably held in the tray to perform at least one of information recording and reproducing in an optical disk and moved close to/away from the spindle motor.
