PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an upper die for punch presses with which the height of a punching head is easily adjusted with one hand, which is easily manufactured and can be compacted. SOLUTION: By screwing the punching head 4 onto the male thread part 2a in the upper part of a punch driver 2 and providing a locking plate 7 on the outer periphery of the male thread part 2a, a locking member 6 provided on the punching head 4 is engaged freely separably to a recessed part 7b formed in the outer peripheral part of the locking plate 7. The upper die for punch presses is constituted by locking the locking plate 7 so as not to relatively rotate to the punch driver 2 and relatively movable in the axial direction and providing an elastic member 5 for holding the engaged state of the locking member 6 to the recessed part 7b.
