PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a knife device which moderates noises and vibrations accompanied by the reciprocating movements of slidably disposed knives and solves the problem that a cutting performance is obstructed by the formation of deposits in the boundary portions of the opposite knives. SOLUTION: This knife device in which grass-dividing rods 8 are disposed above the opposite knives where split movable knives are slid is characterized by disposing dividing plates 3 in the boundary portions 2 of the opposite knives 1 and disposing the lower ends 5 of the dividing plates 3 at places near to the upper sides 7 of the receiving knives 6. The dividing plates 3 are preferably attached to be suspended from the grass-dividing rods 8, and formed from flexible members to suitably bend by loads added to the boundary portions 2.
