<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make useable a light source such as an LD for the inter-equipment connection of an optical wireless LAN or the like by expanding a beam size up to energy density safe to the naked eye; to make realizable with slight optical output and with a high S/N ratio and simplify also inter-equipment connection; and to provide an optical element mounted just behind a transmission apparatus, and just before a receiving apparatus both effective for the foregoing purposes inexpensively and with a fine size. <P>SOLUTION: An optical control device is formed with techniques such as use of a single lens for making the device compact, use of a ball lens, combinations of light scattering elements and lenses, and exchanging a part of lenses for convex mirrors or concave mirrors; and spherical aberration or the like is used as optical diffusion means. Optical design is achieved such that the optical control device is mounted just behind the transmission apparatus; the expansion of the beam size is completed in the optical control device, and thereafter the beam is projected to secure safety; and light is subjected to diffused irradiation in a direction of a cone having a solid angle that is necessary and sufficient to utilize optical energy. A signal from the direction of a cone in a desired range of a solid angle is effectively guided by the optical control device and is detected by a sensor element. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
