<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor drive circuit and a buffer in which a damping force can be generated even if power supply to a motor drive circuit is interrupted upon occurrence of an abnormal situation. <P>SOLUTION: The motor drive circuit C comprises a means T for short-circuiting the winding of a motor M where arms A1, A2 and A3 each consisting of a series connection of switching elements S1, S2, S3, S4, S5 and S6 are connected with a power supply, and the switching elements S1, S2, S3, S4, S5 and S6 of each arm A1, A2, A3 are connected with the winding of the motor M.
