PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a combustion catalyst in which an active component comprising palladium oxide particularly excellent in the activity of the combustion catalyst at low temperature is carried on an alumina particle. SOLUTION: The combustion catalyst comprises a carrier comprising alumina particles (in particular,χ-alumina particles is preferred) and 0.05 to 10 wt%, in terms of metallic palladium, of palladium oxide, 0.01 to 30 wt%, in terms of metallic cerium terms, of cerium oxide and 0.01 to 20 wt%, in terms of metallic titanium, of titanium oxide carried on the carrier.
