PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small device for quickly cooling a high-temperature thermal decomposition residue discharged from a refuse incinerator. SOLUTION: This cooling device for the thermal decomposition residue of the refuse incinerator comprises a cylindrical body 5 having a cooling jacket 7 on the outer surface and horizontally fixed, a cooling screw shaft 6 rotatably supported therein, a feed port 10 opened at one end of the body 5, a discharge port 11 opened at the other end thereof, and a temporary retention part 12 of a treated object for adjusting the accumulation quantity of the treated object provided extending above the feed port 10. The screw shaft is composed of a cylindrical body and a spiral fin, and the spiral fin is extended to be close to the inner surface of the body 5, so that the treated object is transferred in a filled state in the body 5 by the rotation of the screw shaft.
