PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device and a seek method therefor capable of speedily and stably perform a seek operation. SOLUTION: When performing a one-track jump for moving a laser beam irradiation position for each track in the radial direction of an optical disk (S108), it is decided whether or not off-track of the laser beam irradiation position has occurred (S109). If it is decided that the off-track has occurred, address information of the present laser beam irradiation position is detected (S111), and two or more track jumps are carried out to move the laser beam irradiation position by two or more tracks in the radial direction of the optical disk (S112). When performing the two or more track jumps, track servo control using a tracking error signal is turned off, and the number of tracks to be moved is controlled on the basis of a difference between a target address and the detected present address.
