PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device for increasing the durability of a peeling member and for improving the image quality of a fixed image, and to provide an image forming apparatus equipped with the fixing device. SOLUTION: The fixing device comprises a fixing roller with a heat source, a pressure roller which is brought into pressure contact with the fixing roller, and a peeling member disposed near the fixing roller, in the axial direction of the fixing roller and on a downstream side of a recording medium transport direction of a fixing nip portion. The peeling member comprises a substrate and a coat disposed on the surface side of the substrate, wherein the coat is formed of a material containing a hydrolytic condensation product of a silicon-containing compound represented by Formula (I).
