PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for continuously casting steel, which prevents the generation of segregation such as center segregation and V segregation by applying blows against a cast slab so as to obtain a cast slab excellent in internal quality. SOLUTION: In the method for continuously casting steel, when casting a cast slab having a rectangular cross-sectional shape, the cast slab is cast while giving vibration to the cast slab by applying continuous blows against at least one part of the short-side surfaces of the cast slab including an unsolidified portion. The blow energy that satisfies the relation expressed by E≥0.0065×W is given to the cast slab. Herein, E is blow energy (J) per one blow given to the cast slab, and W is a long-side width (mm) of the cast slab. Further in the continuous casting method, continuous rolling-reduction is desirably applied to the long-side surfaces of the cast slab including an unsolidified portion, using a plurality of pairs of guide roll for rolling-reduction.
